ANTS is pleased to announce the
release of the 2024 Australian Nursing Educator Professional Practice Standards (the ‘Standards’). You can find them on the ANTS website and the link below.
The 2024 Standards were developed from a research project that reviewed the 2010 Australian Nurse Teacher Professional Practice Standards. The research project received ethical approval from Western Sydney University, and the opinions of experts and other nursing educators were obtained via a modified Delphi survey method, which included focus groups.
There was an overwhelming response from the participants that the 2010 Standards were still applicable to nursing educators. However, they did suggest some modifications and additions to the 2010 Standards. A new addition to the Standards is the inclusion of contextual cues for each Standard statement to help clarify each statement.
The 2024 Standards are now available and can be applied to nursing educators in any practice setting, such as academia or clinical, and with any level of experience. The nursing educator should take into account their role, knowledge, and experience when applying the Standards to suit individual educational situations.
