NNEC 2027

21st National Nurse Education Conference, 5-7 May 2027 | Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart, Tasmania.

Welcome

Advancing the Future of Nursing Education

The National Nurse Education Conference is Australia’s premier biennial gathering of nurse educators, academic leaders, clinicians, researchers and education professionals.

As the flagship event of the Australian Nurse Teachers’ Society (ANTS), the conference brings together the individuals and organisations leading innovation and shaping the future of nursing and workforce development.

Through a variety of presentation modes including invited and submitted papers and posters, debates and panel discussions, the ‘Conference Program’ will explore the contemporary nurse education issues shaping the nursing profession, with a strong focus on innovation in nurse and midwifery education and workforce engagement.

Key themes will include designing the future of nurse and midwifery education, innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nursing and midwifery. The program will showcase emerging research, best clinical practice, and practical strategies to strengthen the nursing workforce, enhance educational outcomes, and support culturally safe, inclusive, and sustainable healthcare.

We look forward to meeting all delegates in the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart, on the beautiful waterfront of nipaluna (Hobart), from 5–7 May 2027, for an inspiring and rewarding National Nurse Education Conference.

The Australian Nurse Teachers’ Society (ANTS) invites participants to submit abstracts for the 21st National Nurse Education Conference.

The theme in 2027 is “Designing the Future of Nursing Education: Leading Innovation, Strengthening Workforce and Sustainable Healthcare

As health professionals we have a commitment to life-long learning, and we recognise the importance of keeping abreast with current developments in our field of practice.

The conference will allow you to share knowledge and celebrate experiences through invited speakers’ presentations, research opportunities, and networking.

Conference themes include the following
• Innovation in nursing education
• Strengthening workforce
• Sustainable health
• Learner engagement

We encourage a variety of presentations that facilitate discussion, storytelling, live demonstration and small-group activities. Participants should move from passive listening to active contribution. Traditional slide-based presentations can limit engagement and meaningful interaction. If PowerPoint is absolutely necessary – there will be a four slide maximum and 20 word limit on each slide. Delegates should leave with tangible tools and adaptable techniques to improve their local nursing education practice.
